PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Morton spotted Metamora an early lead but scored five unanswered runs to get a big win on the road in a Mid-Illini Conference baseball game.

Landon Springer homered and Cam Crawford had three hits and an RBI as Morton won at Metamora, 5-1, on Thursday. Camden Taylor gave up a run in the first but struck out seven in his 4.2 innings of work.

Alex McKie got the final seven outs of the game for the save. Morton (10-5, 3-1) split the series with Metamora after the Redbirds (10-4, 2-2) won the first game of the two-series with a 5-1 victory Monday.

East Peoria, Dunlap and Tremont also won baseball games Tuesday. Dunlap, Metamora and East Peoria won softball games.

Notre Dame girls soccer stayed undefeated with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Urbana. Ava Lafollette and Abigail Chaddock scored two goals apiece for the Irish (11-0).
