Prep Roundup: Suggs' big hit leads West Morgan to area win

Apr. 10—TRINITY — Koby Suggs hit a walk-off hit to give West Morgan a big 5-4 area win over Good Hope on Thursday.

The game was tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning when Suggs doubled, driving in the game-winning run.

Cole Thorn added a hit and an RBI, and Cullen Kirby had two hits. Titan Partlow got the win on the mound, allowing seven hits and four runs with nine strikeouts.

West Morgan will be back in action on Friday at Vinemont.

Hartselle 9, Decatur 0: Asher Doepel, Cruise Baker and Sam Gillette all tripled for the Tigers as Hartselle clinched the area series.

Doepel had two hits, an RBI and scored three runs, while Gillette had two hits and two RBIs and Baker had an RBI. Owen Murphree had two hits for Decatur.

Athens 6, Muscle Shoals 0: John Lawrence Chittam pitched a gem for Athens, allowing five hits with five strikeouts.

Chittam also had a big day at the plate with three hits and an RBI. JD Bailey added three hits and an RBI and Chase Taylor had two hits and two RBIs.

East Lawrence 7, Danville 5: Tad Terry hit two doubles and finished with three hits and three RBIs in a win.

David Izquierdo added two hits and an RBI and Even Smith led Danville with two hits and an RBI.

Hartselle 13, Decatur 0: Cole Miles drove in three runs on two hits as Hartselle completed a sweep of the Red Raiders.

Ben Strickland had a hit for Decatur.

Elkmont 18, Brindlee Mountain 1: Brock Ferguson drove in four runs on four hits as Elkmont cruised to a win.

Traynom also got the win in the circle, allowing two hits and two runs with six strikeouts.

Annabelle Matthews and Emme Palmer each added two hits and two RBIs, while Jazlyn Jackson tripled and drove in three runs.

AB Anton added three hits, Taylor Pellem had two hits and an RBI and Karli Staton had a hit and two RBIs. Macy Hardiman led Priceville with two hits and two RBIs.

Danville 9, East Lawrence 2: Jade Weaver and Kennedy Borden each hit home runs in a big on Thursday.

Weaver finished with three hits and three RBIs and Borden had two hits and three RBIs. Madison Austin and Mercy Green led East Lawrence with a hit and an RBI each.

Lawrence County 2, Russellville 0: McKinley McCaghren got a complete-game win in the circle, allowing two hits with three strikeouts.
