Premier League fixtures released: Arsenal and promoted clubs learn opening day opponents

Arsenal have learned they will begin their Premier League title defence against newly promoted Coventry City as the fixtures for the 2026/27 Premier League season are released.

Frank Lampard’s team, who won the Championship title by 11 points last campaign, travel to the Emirates Stadium in their first top flight outing since 2001 on Friday 21st of August and kick off at 20:00 (BST) on Sky Sports.

Each of the promoted clubs will face opposition playing in Europe next season, as runners up Ipswich Town host Régis Le Bris’ Sunderland while Hull City face Manchester United at the KC Stadium.

Manchester City begin the post-Pep Guardiola era against familiar foes that had a hand in the Gunners going on to lift the Premier League in Bournemouth, who too will be under new leadership as Marco Rose takes to the dugout.

Coventry’s trip to North London marks a continued trend where the Premier League season has opened with a promoted side playing a team that finished in the top four the past season for the last eight years, since 2019/20.

There will also feature an all-London clash in the capital when Fulham take on rivals Chelsea, who quirkily are actually based in the former’s borough, on Monday 24th of August to round off the opening weekend.
