Despite signing Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract earlier this offseason, the Miami Dolphins should still be looking for ways to upgrade at the most important position in football.

While many believed the Dolphins may have taken a swing on Texas Tech Brendan Sorsby in the supplemental draft, that option appears to be off the table, as ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Monday that a judge in Lubbock County, Texas, granted the injunction that Sorsby requested, allowing the quarterback to play for the Red Raiders in 2026.

Sorsby, 22, spent two seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers and two more with the Cincinnati Bearcats completing 61.4% of his passes for 7,208 yards, 60 touchdowns and 18 interceptions and rushing for 1,305 yards and 22 scores between the two schools.

Transferring to Texas Tech this year, Sorsby was under investigation for a gambling issue that had made him ineligible to play this year. The NCAA denied an appeal for Sorsby to have his eligibility reinstated over the weekend, so this is a drastic change of circumstances for the player and team.

If the Dolphins Dolphins want to get another young quarterback in the near future, they'll have to do it through free agency, a trade or the 2027 NFL draft, which could still feature Sorsby as a top option.
