Stop giving me false hope! Let's start talking about OC or DC from big programs or head coaches from obscure schools. That way, if we do land a big name or a great coach, it will be a pleasant surprise.

On that note: let's talk about Jerry Moore, Appalachian State's head coach.

Petersen is obviously the top choice. Tucson is a good spot for him though should he leave with his son's medical condition.

Still not thinking he's going to come however.

Coach Moore is in his 70's. end of discussion.

I confess that's a very good list if it's legitimate. UA should end up with a good one. Pains me to say it.

From what I heard from Tucson peeps, list is:

Chris Petersen
Mike Bellotti
Paul Chryst
Mark Hudspeth
Manny Diaz
Larry Fedora

Malzahn, Kirby, McElwain won't leave SEC country. Rich Rod and Leach are too toxic. Petrino's resume looks too much like Stoops. Caragher, Ellerson, and Cecil don't have the resumes. I don't think Sumlin is really in the picture but then again Greg Byrne was known as "the Ninja" in Starkville after he pulled a complete coup in getting Mullen without anyone knowing about it.

One thing I know is that we have a pretty well-connected AD running this thing. I will go on record as saying that the Chris Petersen rumors are a giant smokescreen effort by a couple old Oregon buddies to get CP a nice big raise and confuse everyone so Byrne can lock down the guy he really wants.

Paul Chryst would be an awesome hire. I think he's the next great head coach. But I would be terrified every year of him getting a big job in the Big 10. Like, say, Ohio State.

Good to know the ESPN article is relying on Mark May for reasons why Petersen might leave Boise.
