LAS VEGAS – Tresean Gore met the media Saturday after his win over Azamat Bekoev at UFC Fight Night 272.
Gore (7-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) submitted Bekoev (20-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) on the prelims at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The win from Gore was by far the biggest upset in the UFC so far in 2026. Bekoev was an 8-1 betting favorite.
But Gore said he's not satisfied yet because the win didn't come against current middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev.
"There's work to be done," Gore said at his post-fight news conference. "Azamat is not a champion. He's not Khamzat. When I'm putting Khamzat to sleep, then I'll pat myself on the back a little more. Until then, I've got work to do."
Gore said he stopped using marijuana five months ago, and it's putting him in a different direction. He lobbied UFC CEO Dana White for a $100,000 performance bonus at his news conference and detailed what he'd do with the money – saying it would help his son's education.
Gore didn't get that bonus when the awards were given out hours after his fight, though. Instead, Tommy McMillen, a 10-1 betting favorite, said on the microphone he wanted $100,000 from White to use at the blackjack table. McMillen, a protege of former UFC champion Sean O'Malley, got $100K for Fight of the Night – even though he was in a one-sided TKO that lasted less than one round.
Gore, the biggest underdog winner of the year, got just the standard $25,000 finish bonus.
