Polymarket is making a bigger push into live sports, partnering with the ATP Tour — the global governing body of men's professional tennis — to pair official tennis match streams with real-time prediction markets data.

Why it matters: This deal is different from Polymarket's other sports partnerships because it goes beyond branding and official data into live media rights and product integration.

  • It also also marks one of Polymarket's first partnerships with a global sports tour. The company already has league-specific relationships with MLB, MLS, UFC and others.

Zoom in: As part of the deal, Polymarket will become the ATP's official prediction market platform for both the ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour, covering around 20,000 matches each season.

  • The company says it will become the exclusive ATP streaming destination within the U.S. prediction-market category, integrating live matches directly into its platform.
  • Live ATP streams will be supplied through Tennis Data Innovations, the ATP's media and data arm.
  • Financial terms were not disclosed.

What they're saying: "This is unprecedented from a product perspective," Ari Borod, Polymarket's president of sports business development, told Axios in an interview.

  • "You have exclusive streaming combined with exclusive data, all in a marketplace dynamic, and that's the first time this is being done in the United States."

Reality check: The deal also gives Polymarket access to a broad calendar of events that can keep users engaged beyond a single match.

  • "It's something that is year-round ... that gives customers the opportunity to trade at all times."

The bottom line: Polymarket is betting tennis can become the proving ground for broader live sports partnerships.

  • Tennis is especially suited for this type of prediction markets deal because odds shift point-by-point throughout a match, per Borod.
  • "The later a match goes, the more the intensity of the trading volume increases," he noted.
