The 33rd annual Polk Senior Games begin Feb. 28 and run through March 14 at various locations in Polk County.
The Olympic-style competition for men and women age 50 and older includes such events as archery, basketball shooting, billiards, dancing, fishing, golf, shuffleboard, swimming, tennis and track. Most events are grouped by gender in five-year age increments.
More than 1,800 people participated in 2025.
Event locations include All Saints Academy, Lake Parker Park, Beerman Tennis Center and Simpson Park Community Center. Registration for this year's events is closed.
Polk Senior Games was founded in 1992 by Nancye Thornberry of Lakeland. The first games drew 777 entrants, according to a news release. The event has grown to become the largest of the 20 local senior games in Florida, including more than 700 volunteers, the release said.
Deena Wilbur has worked for Polk Senior Games since 1993 and now serves as executive director.
