After spending four years in Chicago, Pittsburgh native Jaquan Brisker returned to his hometown this offseason, signing a one-year deal with the Steelers in March. In order to elevate the "Steel Curtain" defense, he has been taking advice from a two-time Super Bowl champion.
Former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor was a key member of the 2005 and 2008 championship teams. He was a reliable No. 1 defensive back throughout his career, finishing with 636 total tackles and 14 interceptions.
Taylor has been operating as a team scout for Pittsburgh, giving him the opportunity to work with Brisker and other members of the secondary.
"It's amazing," Brisker said of the chance to chat with Taylor (via Sports Illustrated). "I try to get as much information from Ike all the time. They had a top defense every single year. ... Just trying to feel, you know, how they had that connection."
Taylor played alongside a few legendary Steelers, including Troy Polamalu and James Harrison. Their commitment to excellence as a group made those units elite, and Brisker is hoping that this collection of players can reach those heights.

After missing the last 12 games of the 2024 season because of a concussion, Brisker played in all 17 games for the Bears in 2025.
