They dropped the charges. Which likely means there was more to the story or this was a result of guys trash talking. If it was a simple one sided assault I think the outcome would be different.

Yep. Which would mean the authorities decided it was an NBA issue to deal with.

Consult yes but people get charged here in Arizona all the time without the victim pressing charges. My guess is they felt it was an NBA matter or didn't want to open Pandora's box with sports altercations. Prosecutor likely didn't want to go near this with a 10 foot pole.
