Detroit — The Detroit Pistons may be without Isaiah Stewart for some time.

The team announced Tuesday morning that Stewart recently suffered a Grade 1 strain of his left calf and is currently undergoing treatment. There is no set timeline for his return, but the team has stated Stewart will be re-evaluated in one week.

The news of Stewart's recent injury comes two days after coach J.B. Bickerstaff announced it ahead of Sunday's loss to the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena. He explained the calf injury is something Stewart has been trying to play through in recent games. However, Bickerstaff revealed that the injury has been worsening.

Stewart has been in the middle of a career year this season, averaging 10.0 points and 1.6 blocks through 55 games. His defensive efforts had him on the verge of receiving his first selection to the NBA All-Defensive Team, but due to the league's 65-game rule, Stewart will likely miss the chance to qualify. Stewart's absence will lead Bickerstaff to rely on Paul Reed as the team's primary backup to Jalen Duren.
