The Pirates have recalled left-handed pitcher Hunter Barco and infielder/outfielder Nick Yorke from Triple-A Indianapolis. Right-hander Wilber Dotel and infielder Jack Brannign were optioned to make room on the active roster.

This will be the fourth stint for Barco with the Pirates this season. In six appearances out of the bullpen, the 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA. He’s been charged with 12 earned runs on 19 hits with 12 walks and 10 strikeouts in 14.2 innings. In 15 appearances/eight starts for Indianapolis this season, Barco is 4-6 with a 4.12 ERA.

The left-hander was scheduled to start for Indianapolis on Saturday but was scratched to ensure he’d be available for the Pirates on Sunday against the Red Sox. The Pirates are in need of a bulk option out of the bullpen after Paul Skenes had his start pushed back from Sunday to Wednesday. Right-hander Luke Bachar will start in place of Skenes.

Yorke has totaled 27 games across two stints with the Pirates this season. The 24-year-old has hit .197/.279/.276 with three doubles, one home run and six RBI in the big leagues this season. In 29 games at Triple-A this season, Yorke has slashed .194/.284/.320 with two doubles, one triple, three home runs and 12 RBI.

Dotel pitched a pair of scoreless innings in Pittsburgh’s loss to Boston on Saturday. In 15 appearances with the Pirates this season, the 23-year-old is 1-4 with a 4.71 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 28.2 innings.

Brannigan made his major league debut on June 7 against the Braves and has appeared in two games for the Pirates on the season.
