Mar. 3—DODGE CENTER — The Mr. Basketball of Minnesota committee has released its top ten finalists for the 2025-26 award and representing the southeastern part of the state on the list is Triton senior Pierce Petersohn.
Petersohn is a three-sport athlete for the Cobras, averaging 30 points a night through 29 games. While Petersohn is a star on the basketball court, he will play Division I college football for Virginia Tech next season.
The 6-foot-5 guard dropped 39 points in the Section 1, Class 2A semifinals against No. 4 Rushford-Peterson on Monday night and will lead the Cobras (25-4) as they hope to upset top-seeded Goodhue (27-1) in the section semifinals on Saturday.
The other Mr. Basketball finalists are Totino Grace's Dothan Ijadimbola, Henning's Kale Misegades, Cretin-Derham Hall's JoJo Mitchell, Hopkins' Jayden Moore, Waseca's Deron Russell, East Ridge's Cedric Tomes, Wayzata's Christian Wiggins and Eden Prairie's Hamze Yusuf.
The final five candidates for the award will be announced later this month.
This is the most wins the Cobras have had in a single season since they made the boys basketball state tournament in 2009 and finished the year 24-7.
The last Mr. Basketball from southeastern Minnesota was John Marshall's Matthew Hurt in 2019.
