The Phoenix Suns have waived forward Haywood Highsmith, The Arizona Republic confirmed Aug. 12.

The Suns are now at 14 players, one under the standard 15-man roster. Training camp is set to begin Sept. 29.
The Suns trading for Miles Bridges and landing Koa Peat in the first round of the 2026 draft gives them depth at the forward position.
Highsmith was in Las Vegas with the Suns players during NBA Summer League as he attended the team's Summer League games.
He averaged 5.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and shot a career-high 57.1% from the field from 3 in seven games last season, but was limited as he was returning from a knee injury.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pound forward was entering the second-year of a two-year contract for $3 million, but was partially guaranteed $1 million of that salary for the 2026-27 season.
Highsmith was coming off having surgery last August for a meniscus tear he suffered in his right knee while training in his hometown of Baltimore.
Highsmith signed with the Suns in February after the Brooklyn Nets waived him before the trade deadline. He didn't play a game for the Nets, who acquired him in a trade with the Miami Heat before the 2025-26 season.
The Heat traded Highsmith and a 2032 second-round pick to the Nets for a protected 2026 second-round pick.
