The Phoenix Mercury deleted a controversial social media post following their 111-109 win over the Indiana Fever on June 24.

The team posted several victory posts across its social media channels, including a doodle drawing of DeWanna Bonner as part of an ongoing social-media series to mark each victory.

The doodle against the Fever was of a stick figure lying on the ground with the words, "De-Wanna piece of this?!?" The stick figure referenced Bonner celebrating her and-one opportunity in the second quarter.

But the social media post received backlash as some found it eerily similar to a viral clip of Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas pushing down on the neck of Fever guard Caitlin Clark. The Mercury have since removed the post.

The Mercury's doodle series has been going on since last season and highlights a key player or moment from each win. Following Phoenix's win over the Seattle Storm on June 20, the team shared a doodle depicting French forward Valeriane Ayayi, saying, "Oui Oui! No Storm."

The Fever and Mercury have engaged in a fiery series in the back-to-back games on June 22 and June 24. The first game featured six technical fouls and one ejection, while the second saw Clark leave with a back injury and Thomas retroactively earning a Flagrant 2 foul and a one-game suspension.

The rivalry has led to several chippy posts from the teams' respective social media accounts as the Fever shared a controversial post the day after their 86-77 win over the Mercury.

Indiana used an image of Sophie Cunningham pointing at Bonner during a dust-up in the fourth quarter to promote WNBA All-Star voting. "Who should vote the squad to WNBA All-Star?" the Fever captioned the shot.

The two will meet for the third and final time on July 9 in Phoenix.
