The Philadelphia Phillies are heading towards the 2026 MLB trade deadline as clear buyers with needs in the rotation, bullpen, and outfield to be addressed.

But, there is one issue: this farm system isn't that strong. After trades over the years and the promotion of Andrew Painter and Justin Crawford to the big leagues this season, the Phillies don't really have a conventionally strong farm system.

However, as Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic noted, Dave Dombrowski believes the team's farm system is good enough for the Phillies to swing trades this summer for help at their top three needs.

"There is plenty of interest in players in our system," Dombrowski said. "That's not a concern at all."

Rosenthal and Sammon also noted that, "Dombrowski, the team's president of baseball operations, believes the Phillies have enough talent to address each of their three principal needs..."

The Phillies farm system isn't great, there's no denying that. But Dombrowski still believes it's a good enough system to bring in help at the 2026 deadline.

With Aidan Miller dealing with a back injury, he's not likely to be utilized in any trades, as his value has diminished to the point where it wouldn't be worth it to trade him.

Gage Wood is their current best trade chip, while other prospects like Aroon Escobar, Ramon Marquez, Francisco Renteria, and Dante Nori are a few of the other players who could be used in trade talks this summer.

With major needs in the outfield, bullpen, and the back-end of the rotation, the Phillies need to figure out how to upgrade their roster this summer using this weaker farm system.

But, despite the concerns about this farm system, Dombrowski is not concerned that their weak farm system will keep them from swinging any deals this summer.

However, until Dombrowski proves the worries from Phillies fans aren't warranted, there will be concerns about whether the Phillies' farm system is good enough to land help at the 2026 deadline.
