Went out at 4:30 this morning and bought the Philadelphia Daily News which had a 52 page pull out featuring Sunday's game. One article's topic was Cardinal fans in Philadelphia and spotlighted a few fans with some quotes. Any of you mentioned? One guy had the same intitials and age as swd1974; coincidence?
Nice job representing by those fans mentioned!

MESA! :thud:
If there's one by a guy named Deric (I think that's how he spells it) that would be phillycard. I'd wager the swd one is our very own as well.

I talked to him as well. I am glad to see I'm not the only Cardinals fan in the area. :)

Thanks Jurassic5 - article from philly.com is below (linkee above):

Area Cardinals fans are strange birds

By WILLIAM BENDER

John Donne - the 17th-century English poet who once wrote, "No man is an island, entire of itself" - didn't know what he was talking about. He never walked through Philadelphia in the shoes of an Arizona Cardinals fan - a rare, solitary species in these parts, more likely to be pitied than jeered by fans of a far mightier bird.

The Cardinals fan flies alone in Eagles country. Proud. Ignored. Exiled to that little TV in the back of the bar near the bathroom. Or alone in his living room with DirecTV Sunday Ticket.

"My wife just shakes her head and goes, 'Why do you like teams that [stink]?' " said Dan Kurtz, 29, who lives in the city's Wynnefield Heights section. He embraced the Cards around 1991 - remember Tom Tupa? - when they became his go-to team on Nintendo's Tecmo Super Bowl.

"It's been nothing but heartbreak, except for 1998, and then this season," said Kurtz, who works for an international education agency in Lancaster.

Deric Adger, 40, an insurance agent from Southwest Philadelphia, latched on to the team - mostly its logo at first - when he was 9 years old. No one joined him.

"I've never met another Cardinals fan in Philly. Ever," Adger said. "But I'll stand by the team every single year."
In 1992, he got the logo tattooed on his shoulder. When his son was born in 2001, Adger named him after former cornerback Aeneas Williams. Who else?

Going deep into the playoffs is like a strange, new drug for Cardinals fans, exhilarating and addicting. You get the sense that, in the back of their minds, they're slightly freaked out by the fact that the Super Bowl is only one game away.

"I'm confident, but I'm terrified, too," Adger said of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Eagles. "I've come this far. I just don't want this season to be over."

Scott Dowling, a 34-year-old Philly native who now lives in Harrisburg, picked up the newspaper when he was 10 years old and decided to "pick a team that was not very good," so he wouldn't be accused of being a "bandwagon jumper." He selected the Cardinals. Mission accomplished.

An Arizona victory on Sunday will bring Dowling a quarter-century's worth of redemption, perhaps even silence the incessant heckling from his brother and father, both lifelong Eagles fans.

"I couldn't have scripted it any better than this. A chance to beat Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, and me living in Harrisburg? Is there anything better than that?" Dowling asked. "Even if we don't win, it's been a hell of a ride."

Tim Yingling, 23, a bartender at La Terrasse in University City, will be rooting for Arizona, if only to see his former Valley Forge Military Academy classmate, Larry Fitzgerald, make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody deserves it more than the three-time Pro Bowl wideout, he said.

"He's a really humble guy," Yingling said. "Not a T.O. at all." *

That is SOOOOOOO true!

I'll have to keep a lookout for PhillyCard here in Philly.

I think I'm the only one that drives around Philly with a Cards license plate and stickers in the window, unless the other guys in the article do as well.

Just curious - do you guys get many/any Philly fans at your local AZ sportsbars?

Given the silly NY/NJ/PA NFL TV market rules I usually have to hit a sportsbar to see half of the Eagles games. My usual spot has a great variety of fans - usually fans of 20-30 teams any given week. Of all of them I'd say that Vikings, Cowboys, and Bears fans seem to be the main standouts as guys who bring the vibe down.

The Eagles fan club out here holds game day parties at a local bar. They usually have quite a turn out. We were all friends on Sunday until the clock read 0:00. :)

Sums up my feeling perfectly.
