With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history.

After the 2012-13 season and the failed Andrew Bynum experiment, the Sixers decided to hit the reset button. On draft night, the Sixers sent All-Star Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for the sixth overall pick which turned out to be Nerlens Noel.

Noel, who was expected to be the No. 1 pick of his draft before injuries at Kentucky came into play, missed the entirety of his first season in the league due to a knee injury. In the 2014-15 season, his official rookie season, he averaged 9.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.9 blocks, and 1.7 assists as he showed off all of his game.

Noel played 171 games for the Sixers across three seasons, averaging 10.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks at the deadline in the 2016-17 season as Joel Embiid showed what he could do.

Overall, Noel played nine seasons in the league with the Sixers, Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Brooklyn Nets. He played 17 games for the Pistons and Nets in the 2023-24 season.
