Transitioning from coach to advisor.. definitely newsworthy, and advisor applies a much less hands-on role

Just the other day he said he was looking forward to still being the coach moving into next season, so did he step down or did the organization tell him, "This is how it is going to be..."
This is how you move on from long time coaches. Give them the dignity of walking away.

Maybe the plan WAS to coach into next season........until Vrabel became available. Then the boss told Pete the cheat to hit the road.

True. And when the coaches want to move on, they just lament about how they miss their family and want to leave to go spend more time with them. Then they are somewhere else coaching after a year or less away.

Vrabel has got to be the top coach on everyones list right? I guess some teams might like Harbaugh.
Heard some radio show late night on 98.7 and they were talking with a guy in Tennessee, and they asked him who the best available coaching candidate was now that Vrabel was out. He joked, "Vrabel."

okay...

Respect to Coach Pete!! Enjoy your diminished role, find some time for a Cuban and a 30 year single malt. You have earned it sir! I have despised you for two decades and with every meeting you were a worthy adversary.

Many of us would have hated him less had he been wearing Red.

Meh, maybe ...or maybe he was already noodling the idea of stepping down. After the game on Sunday, you could clearly read Pete's lips when he met Gannon at midfield and told him he had bright future in AZ...kinda like the old guard handing off to the new guard.

If he coached the Cardinals, he still would have been an cornholio, but he would have been our cornholio.
