The 2025-26 boys basketball season came to an end for Pensacola area teams on Feb. 21. Below is a brief recap for the two teams who lost in their respective regional semifinals.

Region 1-5A semifinals

No. 1 Fleming Island 85, No. 4 Booker T. Washington 64

The Wildcats (21-6) trailed 39-36 at halftime before the Golden Eagles (21-8) steadily pulled away in the second half.

Booker T. led 30-29 in the second quarter and Keylon Williams hit a runner to start the second half before Fleming Island started to separate.

The Wildcats were playing in their first regional semifinal since 2011 and are slated to return every major contributor from a core that's helped win back-to-back district championships.

Fleming Island will host No. 6 Columbia in the Region 1-5A final on Feb. 28.

Region 1-4A semifinals

No. 1 Bishop Kenny 72, No. 4 Pensacola 34

The Crusaders controlled this game from start to finish and ended the Tigers (18-10) best season since 2021.

Bishop Kenny (25-3) led 18-10 at the end of the first quarter, 34-18 at halftime and then 50-28 at the end of the third quarter before forcing a running clock in the final frame. The Crusaders will host No. 2 Godby in the Region 1-4A final on Feb. 28.

The loss marked the end of a turnaround season for Pensacola under first-year head coach DJ Williams. The Tigers went just 5-15 a year ago.
