The tight end position is one that has a storied past at Penn State. The historic school has sent multiple tight ends to the NFL, like Cincinnati Bengals player Mike Gesicki and Pat Friermuth of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the most recent being Indianapolis Colts star Tyler Warren.

They don’t have any bonafide stars at the position this season, but one reporter is expecting one of them to break out in a big way. Jordan Reid of ESPN collaborated with a colleague to give their top-five players at each position who are expected to get drafted next year, and Nittany Lions tight end Benjamin Brahmer made the cut for him.

Brahmer came in at No. 5 on Reid’s list behind other notable Big Ten tight ends, like Oregon’s Jamari Johnson and DJ Vonnahme from the Iowa Hawkeyes. Brahmer hasn’t accomplished a ton in his career, but all parties involved are hoping his familiarity in the offense and lack of other excellent weapons will embolden him to perform at his peak.

Initially a three-star recruit in high school, the Penn State tight end worked his way up to four stars before hitting the transfer portal to leave Iowa State. He clearly has the talent to be one of the top tight ends in the country, but he’ll need to put everything together in order to fill the big shoes that Reid has fit for him.

Penn State just might have their next star tight end after all.
