Most of Penn State’s football commits this year have been for the Class of 2027. They have invested a ton of resources into skill positions, with a number of recruits who agreed to join the team as defensive linemen, cornerbacks and wide receivers.

Of course, the Nittany Lions are actively scouting and offering Class of 2028 athletes, but with their signing day still so far away, there is far less activity. However, that didn’t stop one of them from committing to Penn State earlier today.

Carter Petri is a kicker from New York whose recruitment really just started earlier this week. He was offered by the school on Wednesday and the two sides built a relationship incredibly quickly. Now, he is set to join the team in two years after he took to social media earlier today and announced that he is committing to Penn State.

Petri is a 6-1, 185-pound kicker considered to be one of the best special teams players in his class. Special teams can sometimes be the difference between a good team and a great team, and the Nittany Lions want to make sure they don’t have any holes to fill on that front.
