Penn State basketball underwent a good amount of roster turnover last offseason, and the early indications are more changes are coming for the roster in 2026. On Wednesday, a second player from the 2025-26 team has reportedly opted to enter his name in the transfer portal. The latest name to jump ship appears to be Freddie Dilione V, one of Penn State's top offensive players last season.
According to a report from Joe Tipton of Rivals on Wednesday, via social media, Dilione V will enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal. This will allow one of Penn State's most experienced vets to explore his options to continue playing college basketball somewhere else in 2026.
Dilione V averaged 14.0 points per game and 3.2 rebounds per game last season for the Nittany Lions. He led the Nittany Lions in points per game and was second on the team with 1.2 steals per game. Dilione V was set to be Penn State's only senior returning next season. With his expected departure, Penn State will have no seniors projected to be on the roster unless any are added from the transfer portal this offseason.
Dilione's departure leaves Penn State with three pending scholarship spots remaining on the roster for the 2026-2027 season. Dilione V is the second Penn State player to explore the transfer portal. He joins guard Melih Tunca as players entering the transfer portal.
This will be Dilione's second trip into the NCAA transfer portal. He transferred to Penn State from Tennessee two years ago.
Penn State currently has two players in the transfer portal. Penn State has not added any players from the transfer portal at this time.
