Penn State's quarterback room is far from the perfect situation. This offseason, it has dealt with its fair share of injuries, and also, those who who could assume the mantle after Rocco Becht leaves Happy Valley haven't yet proved themselves. Still, there is potential for one to rewrite his story: Alex Manske. In following both Becht and coach Matt Campbell to Happy Valley, he has set himself up to take the reins of the offense in the long term future.
Still, the redshirt freshman missed most of spring practices with an undisclosed injury, leaving doubts about his progress. However, desipte the fact that this injury could be a potential fork in the road for Manske, his QB1 still has the utmost belief that he can be an important factor for the Nittany Lions moving forward.
"He's a light in our quarterback room," Becht said of Manske. With that vote of confidence, fans can start believing that Manske can get back on track.
Manske only has 33 yards of offense and seven passes on tape right now. In order for Becht's comments to ring true, his play has to speak more volumes rather than his personality. While it is still safely assumed that Manske could work in his way back into relevance in Penn State's QB room, it will have be earned. Becht's comments though, could alleviate some of the stress in doing so.
