The Pittsburgh Penguins selected the Ruck twins in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Entering the NHL Draft, Liam and Markus Ruck were two highly-touted prospects, with Liam expected to be a first-round pick and Markus a second. The Penguins selected Liam with the 22nd overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft on Friday.
Then, on Saturday, the Penguins selected Markus with the 39th overall pick, which was the seventh pick in the second round of the draft, to select both twins.
Liam spent the past three seasons with Medicine Hat in the WHL. The 6-foot right winger recorded 45 goals and 59 assists for 104 points in 68 games. He added eight goals and four assists for 12 points in 14 playoff games.
Markus, meanwhile, also played at Medicine Hat and played on a line with Liam. The 6-foot centerman recorded 21 goals and 87 assists for 108 points in 68 games. The year prior, he had eight goals and 21 assists for 29 points, as he had a breakthrough season in the WHL.
The Ruck twins will both likely return to the WHL next season, and they have a college commitment to the University of North Dakota for the 2027-28 campaign.
