Paulo Costa is still eager to face Khamzat Chimaev.
Costa (16-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) has called out UFC middleweight champion Chimaev on numerous occasions, but never got his wish. In his most recent outing, the former title challenger moved up to light heavyweight and knocked out formerly unbeaten Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 327.
While the pair are in different weight classes, Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) has bounced around the idea of a potential move up to 205 pounds.
"I just wish he comes to 205," Costa told Submission Radio of Chimaev. "I'm going to be here with my arms open, waiting for him. This is going to be even worse for him. At 205, I'm a monster. I don't need to burn any muscle, I don't need to sacrifice any muscle of my body to make 185. At 205, I have full 'secret juice' power. That is going to be tragic for him."
But first, Chimaev will defend his middleweight title against ex-champ Sean Strickland (30-7 MMA, 17-7 UFC) in the UFC 328 main event on May 9 in Newark, N.J. (Paramount+).
