The 2024 college football season showcased impressive performances from several quarterbacks.
Players like Cam Ward from the Miami Hurricanes, Kyle McCord of the Syracuse Orange, Shedeur Sanders from the Colorado Buffaloes, Dillon Gabriel of the Oregon Ducks and Jaxson Dart from the Ole Miss Rebels all had standout seasons.
As these players move on to the NFL, the question now arises: Which quarterback will have the best season in the upcoming year? Could it be one of the replacements at their respective universities?
Perhaps someone like Carson Beck from Miami, who received considerable hype heading into last season at Georgia but underperformed, suffered an injury in the SEC Championship Game and subsequently transferred to Miami after the season.
On "The Paul Finebaum Show," SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum discussed Georgia's new quarterback for this season. He expressed skepticism about Gunner Stockton's potential to be among the top quarterbacks.

"To me, Gunner Stockton is a lot of hype right now," Finebaum said. "We got the bill of goods about how much the team loved him and how hard they want to play for him. I saw that in the Sugar Bowl. I saw just inexcusable mistakes across the board, and he was part of some of them."
Stockton had limited playing time last season, appearing in only five games. During those games, he threw for a total of 440 yards and one touchdown. Most of his action came in the season's final game and a half.
Stockton played a crucial role in leading the Bulldogs to an overtime victory against Texas, winning 22-19 after a gutsy eight-yard run on second and eight at the 12-yard line in overtime.
On the subsequent play, Travis Etienne rushed in for the winning touchdown from four yards out.
However, things did not go as well against Notre Dame in the playoffs, as Georgia lost 23-10, and the offense struggled for most of the game.
As the upcoming season approaches, it remains to be seen whether Stockton can establish himself among the best quarterbacks in college football. If he can, he could help lead Georgia back into contention for a national title.
