The New England Patriots announced the jersey numbers for all nine of the rookies that they selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, including Gabe Jacas', which will be the same number that Patriots coach and franchise great Mike Vrabel wore during his playing career with the team.
Jacas will wear No. 50 in 2026. Vrabel wore the same number for his entire tenure with the Patriots from 2001-2008.
Vrabel helped the Patriots win three Super Bowls in his career while wearing No. 50. He was also a First-Team All-Pro honoree in 2007, and finished No. 5 in AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting that season. He was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2023.
Jacas has big shoes to fill. He was a highly touted edge rusher in this year's draft class. Jacas recorded 11 sacks and three forced fumbles in 2025 at Illinois. He is expected to add to the Patriots' defense next season.
