The New England Patriots will be in the spotlight during the first round of the NFL draft in less than two weeks, and they may be looking to bolster their roster with a pass rusher.
This year's draft class is rich with talent in pass rushing, and if the Patriots are aiming to bolster their defense with a pick at No. 31, they might land a true steal of the draft.
CBS Sports draft analyst Mike Renner released a mock draft on Monday, predicting that the Patriots will select Oklahoma edge rusher R. Mason Thomas with the 31st overall pick.
"Thomas is the type of edge bender who can clean up the havoc created inside by Christian Barmore, Milton Williams and Cory Durden. He should be able to pick up where K'Lavon Chaisson left off," Renner wrote.
The 21-year-old pass rusher played four seasons at Oklahoma, appearing in 42 games and recording 65 combined tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss and 17 sacks.
If the Patriots draft Thomas, he could become an impactful player right from the start, which would be fantastic for New England as it is trying to return to the Super Bowl this season.
