As the New England Patriots headed back to the practice fields on Wednesday, so did Terrell Jennings in a red non-contact jersey.

The running back’s 21-day activation window has officially been opened as the AFC divisional round closes in.

Jennings, 24, entered the NFL’s concussion protocol prior to halftime against the New York Giants as the calendar turned to December. He was officially placed on injured reserve in the days after the team returned from its Week 14 bye, missing the final four games of the regular season as well as last Sunday’s 16-3 win over the Los Angeles Chargers in the wild card.

CB Christian Gonzalez (red non-contact jersey) and DL Khyiris Tonga are present to start Wednesday’s practice.

Arriving in Foxborough as an undrafted tryout at rookie minicamp in 2024, Jennings has appeared in 10 games during his Patriots tenure. The 6-foot, 217-pound Florida A&M product rose from the practice squad to the 53-man roster by the end of his initial NFL campaign. He ran the same route again in October on the heels of reaching the league limit with his third elevation and third reversion.

Jennings, who scored his first career touchdown earlier this campaign, has totaled 115 scrimmage yards through 37 career touches. He has added three tackles in the kicking game while also returning a pair of kickoffs for 59 yards. His stay includes 79 snaps on offense along with 69 snaps on special teams.

The AFC East champions’ backfield depth chart stands with starter Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson on the active roster. And on the practice squad alongside fellow veteran Elijah Mitchell, D’Ernest Johnson recently re-signed after clearing waivers and is a candidate to serve as a standard call-up versus the Houston Texans.

Sunday’s kickoff at Gillette Stadium is set for 3 p.m. ET.
