Patriots, Commanders, Raiders, Titans rumor details interest in $27M per year free agent originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

There are at least four teams in the mix for Indianapolis Colts pending free agent wide receiver Alec Pierce.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, those four teams are the New England Patriots, Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

Fowler adds that Pierce and the Colts are still talking about a contract extension, so there remains an outside chance he doesn't hit the market.

Ultimately, no matter who gives him his new deal, Pierce is slated to make at least $27 million per year, Fowler said.

"Expect negotiations between Alec Pierce and the Colts to go down to the wire as the team tries to keep him off Monday's open market," he reported. "That's going to be a challenge. Pierce appears poised to make at least $27 million per year on a new deal. The Patriots, Commanders, Raiders and Titans are among teams in the mix."

Pierce is widely viewed as the best free-agent wide receiver available, so it's no surprise he could approach $30 million annually.

Despite ongoing talks between Pierce and the Colts, they may be futile, as the wide receiver has said he plans on testing the free-agent market.

“I know we haven’t been as good as we could be — and I know we can be — but at this point, I’ve kind of earned the right to explore free agency. See what’s out there, and make a decision that’s best for my career and my family," he told Kay Adams.

The Raiders have the worst wide receiver situation of the four teams mentioned by Fowler. A trio of Jack Bech, Dont'e Thornton and Tre Tucker leaves a ton to be desired, especially with Fernando Mendoza set to be under center in 2026.

The Patriots are in an equally bad spot as the Raiders, as the team is set to cut Stefon Diggs. The Pats do have some promising young players in the room, but they are also unproven and New England desperately needs at least one veteran who can assume the role of Drake Maye's No. 1.

The Titans and Commanders are in a bit better of a spot thanks to the presences of Calvin Ridley and Terry McLaurin, respectively, but the rest of their rooms are not sufficient enough for their own young quarterbacks.

If Pierce hits the market and these four teams all make a play for him, a bidding war could ensue.

The Raiders, Titans, Commanders and Patriots all rank in the top 10 in cap space, with New England bringing up the rear at $43.8 million in funds to spare.

Now you can see why Pierce wants to test the market.
