New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel stood tall above the other head coaches in the league after leading the team to the Super Bowl last season.

However, despite climbing to the top of the AFC, from an individual point of view, his status as one of the NFL’s best head coaches is up for debate this summer.

CBS Sports ranked Vrabel No. 8 overall in their ranking of the top 10 head coaches in the league entering the 2026 NFL season.

”Vrabel's value can be seen in how organizations perform when he's not there,” CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles said. “Vrabel went 54-45 and made the postseason three times in six years with the Titans before being fired. The Titans are an NFL-worst 6-28 since. The Patriots went 4-13 in 2024, hired Vrabel and went 14-3 and made the Super Bowl last year. Numbers don't lie.”

Vrabel turned the Patriots into a winning team in 2025. The winning culture that he instituted helped New England put forth one of the best passing offenses in the league last season, a strong run game, and a balanced defense.

Vrabel's leadership has been on full display from the moment he walked through the door in New England. It's the reason why he is viewed by many as one of the game's best head coaches. That feeling should only strengthen with an even better roster in 2026.
