Patrick Mahomes has won two MVPs and three Super Bowls in just nine years with the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, the 30-year-old believes we haven't the seen him at his best.
With the Chiefs starting training camp this week, Mahomes shared a promising update regarding his recovery from a significant knee injury he suffered last season. Mahomes, who's been cleared to practice seven months after tearing his left ACL and LCL, says he's reaching a new physical peak.
"I feel stronger than I've ever felt, as far as strength and lifting [weights]," Mahomes said, per ESPN's Nate Taylor. "I feel amazing. … I'm excited just to be able to play football. I've been seeing cinderblock walls rehabbing every single day in Kansas City. Now, to be on that practice field with my teammates, it's going to be a lot of fun."
Mahomes will lead the Chiefs' first-team offense throughout camp as Reid will not limit his reps, Taylor reports. He'll be wearing a compression sleeve and brace on his left leg, however.
The goal for Mahomes is to play the Chiefs' Sept. 14 season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.
