Patrick Ewing has become known as one of the names forever linked to the New York Knicks. For well over a decade, he was the franchise's star player, so he has a strong connection to the team.

That was why he served as an advisor and ambassador for the Knicks over the past few seasons. However, he still has a goal to serve as a coach, so he has taken an assistant coach job with the Washington Wizards.

Patrick Ewing will be part of the Wizards' coaching staff​

Over the past few weeks, it is clear that the Wizards are looking for steps in the right direction. With AJ Dybansta now serving as the new franchise cornerstone, the Wizards are improving every facet of their organization.

This includes the coaching staff, as Brian Keefe's supporting cast is getting bigger, literally and figuratively. Ewing is now part of his staff, bringing in experience as a coach, but also experience as an NBA star.

Ewing can serve as a mentor to a lot of the players, including Dybantsa. However, he will also be a valuable presence for the bigger players like Alex Sarr, Anthony Davis, and Deandre Ayton.

Aside from Ewing, former Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford has also joined Keefe's staff. With all the experience the Wizards are getting in the coaching staff, they could make some noise.

With players like Davis and Trae Young, the Wizards have the veterans to succeed in the regular season. However, yonug players like Dybantsa and Sarr also secure their future ceiling moving forward.
