Jun. 4—MADISON, S.D. — Parkston's Landon Weber had a second-place finish to lead the Mitchell-area players competing on Thursday in the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Tour stop at Madison Country Club.
Nearly all of the age groups finished only nine holes. Playing in the age 16-18 boys group, Weber shot a 1-over-38 on the back nine of the course. Brandon's Lincoln McInerney won the age group by shooting even-par-37. The rest of the top-five includes Brady Kirch, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Brookings' Andrew Heinze and Sioux City, Iowa's Jack Schettler, who all shot 2-over-39.
Zoey Zeigler of Winner's won the 9-and-under girls division with a score of 47. Salem's Marney Heisinger was second (59), and Mitchell's Morli Miles was fourth (66).
Mitchell's Kendall Aadland finished second in the age 12-13 girls division, shooting a 59. Aberdeen's Aubree DeVine won the division with a score of 58.
In the intermediate boys 12-13 division, which played nine holes on Thursday, Jack Gillen of Mitchell finished third with a round of 40. Jameson Stevens of Sioux Falls won the event with a round of 38, winning a tiebreaker over Hank Carlson, also of Sioux Falls.
Berkli Miles of Mitchell placed third in the 10-11 girls division, shooting 59, while Ella Leighton of Mitchell placed fourth with a round of 63. Neva Johnson of Sioux Falls won the division with a score of 51.
In the 10-11 boys division, Mitchell's Brooks Aadland finished fourth, shooting a 51. Brookings' Logan Baszler won the division with a round of 39.
Emma Reinesch of Mitchell placed fifth in the age 14-15 girls grouping, shooting an 18-hole score of 103. Brynlee Baedke of Vermillion won the division with a score of 92. The age group was the only division on Thursday to complete 18 holes.
Some of the older golfers will participate in the SDGA Sanford Series event on June 8-9 in Yankton and Dakota Dunes, while the SDGA Junior Tour will be in Brandon on Thursday, June 11.
