The Carolina Panthers will have to try to seize control of the NFC South without their blindside protector.
Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu will not be active for this afternoon's massive showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to his knee injury. The fourth-year lineman was listed as questionable for the contest on Friday's injury report.
As noted by head coach Dave Canales during the week, Yosh Nijman is expected to get the nod in place of Ekwonu. This will be Nijman's second start at the position in 2025, as he had already filled in for Ekwonu during the season opener.
Carolina will also be without a pair of defensive starters in lineman Tershawn Wharton (hamstring) and inside linebacker Trevin Wallace (shoulder), both of whom were ruled out on Friday. Bobby Brown III and Claudin Cherelus will take their places in the lineup.
