The Carolina Panthers may be on the verge of adding some notable help at the tight end position.
According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Panthers have agreed to a one-year deal with tight end Darren Waller.
Waller entered the league as a sixth-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens back in 2015. But it wouldn't be until his time with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders that he'd emerge—breaking out for 90 receptions, 1,145 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2019.
He'd follow that campaign up with a Pro Bowl campaign in 2020, where he tallied career-highs with 107 catches, 1,196 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
After retiring ahead of the 2024 season, Waller returned to join the Miami Dolphins in 2025. He'd go on to amass 24 grabs for 283 yards and six touchdowns in nine games.
The 33-year-old Waller now joins a room headlined by Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans and Ja'Tavion Sanders—none of whom have recorded a season of at least 350 receiving yards over a combined eight years.
