The Green Bay Packers signed 16 players who spent time on the practice squad during the 2025 season to reserve/futures contracts on Monday, the first official league day after the team's season-ending loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild Card Round. The placeholder deals ensure all 16 players will start the 2026 league year on the team's 90-man offseason roster.
The team signed the following players:
The Packers elevated Banks, Dabney, Johnson, Sheppard and Strong from the practice squad last season, and Havrisik was the team's kicker on the 53-man roster for a few weeks.
Considering Brandon McManus' struggles in the postseason, it's possible Havrisik could have a real chance to be the kicker in 2026. Banks, Johnson and Sheppard all play positions where the Packers could lose unrestricted free agents this offseason.
Last January, the Packers signed 12 players to futures deals immediately after the end of the 2024 season, and two of the 12 -- Kamal Hadden and Donovan Jennings -- eventually made the 53-man roster. It's possible a few pieces of the 2026 roster are among this year's futures signings.
Expect the Packers to sign a few more players from outside the organization to futures deals in the coming days and weeks as general manager Brian Gutekunst assembles his 90-man roster.
