GREEN BAY − Green Bay Packers left tackle Rasheed Walker was arrested on the morning of Jan. 23 at LaGuardia Airport in New York after attempting to check in a bag that contained a firearm.

According to a report from the New York Post, Walker was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He appeared in Queens County Criminal Court on the charge and was released later that day.

According to the Post, citing a criminal complaint, Walker told an airline employee that his bag contained a locked box holding a handgun. Port Authority Police were alerted and searched Walker's bag and found a 9mm Glock pistol along with 36 rounds of ammunition in the locked box.

Walker's attorney, Arthur Aidala, told the Post that the gun was legally licensed in Wisconsin and that Walker didn't know he couldn't travel with it in New York.

Walker, 25, is due back in court March 19.

A 2022 seventh-round draft pick of the Packers, Walker started all season at left tackle, winning the job over Jordan Morgan. He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent in March.
