Before the Packers’ Wednesday OTAs practice, head coach Matt LaFleur met with the assembled media and while Josh Jacobs’ arrest dominated the questioning, other topics of interest were also discussed.

Perhaps most important was the status of various Packers players recovering from injuries.

Micah Parsons was not present at OTAs, but LaFleur said he is doing well in his recovery and should be with the team soon. He did however admit that he expects Parsons to open training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

LaFleur said that while Zach Tom is making progress as he returns from a knee injury, he does not anticipate the offensive lineman being back in full action until training camp.

On tight end Tucker Kraft, who like Parsons, is rehabbing from an ACL tear but is further along, having suffered his injury a month earlier, LaFleur said: “He looks so good, you’d want to put him out there (now). Hopefully he’ll be ready to go by training camp or early in training camp”.

MarShawn Lloyd has been one of the players most impacted by injuries in recent years, as his NFL career has struggled to get off the ground.

Discussing Lloyd’s health entering the 2026 season, LaFleur said: “He’s done a nice job, but we’ve only had one practice. He’s gotta show that consistently over the course of OTAs, into training camp, into the preseason and then we’ll see where we go from there.”

“He’s had some really tough circumstances, he’s fought through a lot of adversity. Guys that can fight through adversity and stay positive, which he’s done, there’s a lot that can come from that in a positive sense."

With Josh Jacobs’ status very much up in the air due to an ongoing legal matter, Lloyd could suddenly become a crucial part of Green Bay’s offense if he can stay healthy.

On Lloyd’s talent, LaFleur said: “He’s extremely explosive and he’s a dual threat guy, a guy you can design routes for."

He continued: “I think he’s done everything he can in his power to put himself in the best possible position, but he’s just going to have to go out there and prove it. The best ability is availability and that’s ultimately what it’s going to take for him."

Once practice got underway, there were 14 players who were with the rehab group, with Parsons and Jacobs not in attendance:

  • Drake Dabney
  • Jonathan Ford
  • Kamal Hadden
  • Domani Jackson
  • Donovan Jennings
  • Tucker Kraft
  • Damien Martinez
  • Isaiah McDuffie
  • Jacob Monk
  • Collin Oliver
  • Jordon Riley
  • Benjamin St-Juste
  • Zach Tom
  • Devonte Wyatt

In other news, LaFleur discussed the somewhat surprising release of kicker Brandon McManus.

Despite drafting Trey Smack, the Packers could have kept McManus on the roster and let a training camp battle commence, but instead decided to let him go earlier this month.

LaFleur said Green Bay wanted to do right by the veteran kicker, and that it was fair to both the player and the team to do it sooner rather than later, with another factor being a desire to put Smack in the best position possible for success ahead of his rookie year.

The head coach also confirmed new linebacker Zaire Franklin will wear the green dot for the Packers in 2026, meaning he will be communicating play calls from Jonathan Gannon to the rest of the defense.
