While Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Matthew Golden have grabbed most of the attention this offseason, there’s another wide receiver Packers coach Matt LaFleur is excited about entering his second year with the team.
Isaiah Neyor.
“I’d say it’s night and day for him,” LaFleur said of Neyor, a 2025 undrafted free agent. “He’s really shown a lot of flashes of excellence. He’s another big, long guy that can run. You can never have enough of those guys, especially at that position. I’m excited about what’s to come from training camp for him.”
Considered a potential Day-3 prospect, Neyor went undrafted but was signed with the San Francisco 49ers, only to be cut and picked up by the Packers early during last year’s training camp.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds while running a 4.40-second 40-yard dash, it was easy to see why Green Bay was interested. Even though Neyor fit the mold for a prototypical Green Bay wide receiver, it wasn’t enough to secure a spot on the initial 53-man roster.
After spending the entire regular season on the practice squad, injuries forced Neyor to be an emergency wide receiver for the team’s NFC Wild Card Round game against the Chicago Bears. He was on the field for three pass plays but was never targeted.
The Packers then signed Neyor to a reserve/future contract after the season.
For the past three years, Green Bay has kept six wide receivers on its initial 53-man roster. That means Neyor will be battling guys like Skyy Moore, Bo Melton, Brenden Rice, and Will Sheppard for one of the final roster spots.
It’s difficult to draw any conclusions until the pads are put on during training camp, but LaFleur’s comments are an encouraging sign. It sounds like Neyor has a legitimate chance of making a push for the 53-man roster in 2026.
