Former West Ham United attacker Pablo Fornals dedicated a goal to the Hammers yesterday after helping Real Betis beat Arsenal in a pre-season friendly. The La Liga club ran out 3-1 winners over the Gunners, and Fornals was the star of the game, assisting twice before scoring the last goal of the game. The former Hammers star put up the crossed irons with his arms as he celebrated the goal, and West Ham fans were delighted with his gesture. The 30-year-old spent four and a half seasons at the London Stadium club before returning to Spain in February 2024.
Fornals bagged 23 goals and 19 assists in 203 games for the Hammers, and things could have been different for manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s side if they had such a player within their ranks last season.
West Ham will now look to start life in the Championship on an impressive note as they eye an immediate return to the Premier League.
They have yet to make any new signings this summer but are in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur for the permanent transfer of Manor Solomon.
