KM played a lot of baseball—some of his mechanics are reflected in the way he throws the football. He played center field in college. A baseball outfielder is throwing to a stationary base or a stationary cut-off man, not a moving target. Some of his mechanics look like a shortstop throwing to a stationary 1st baseman. The coordination between SS and 1st requires the 1st man to give the SS a stationary target by presenting the outstretched glove. The SS needs to time his throw for the 1st baseman to get into a set position.

Note that KM is throwing to his left to Hop and makes good connection. It requires the mechanics of a SS setting up and throwing to the 1st baseman. Plus, he can throw to a spot knowing that it is Hop or out-of-bounds. Not so much with moving targets in other parts of the field

That Hail Murray pass was a throw you see a shortstop make from deep behind second base to the 1st baseman.
