Fort Gibson senior offensive lineman and OU commit Cooper Hackett will miss the 2026 high school football season due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

SoonerScoop first reported the news Tuesday, and Fort Gibson coach Ryan Nolan confirmed it to The Oklahoman.

Hackett, a five-star recruit according to 247SportsComposite, spoke with SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuistion about the injury on SoonerScoop’s Youtube channel.

Hackett said he will have surgery within a couple of weeks and that the shoulder pain began when he was a freshman.

Listed at 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds, Hackett was named to The Oklahoman’s All-State second team this past season.

In addition to thriving on the gridiron, he was a standout basketball player at Fort Gibson and was named to The Oklahoman’s Class 4A All-State first team after averaging 14 points per game and leading his team to the state semifinals.

Hackett, who flipped his commitment from Texas Tech to OU in September, is the state's top-ranked player in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He is listed as the No. 14 player in the nation in his class and the No. 2 offensive tackle.

He was No. 2 on The Oklahoman's initial 2027 Super 30 rankings of the state's top college football recruits.
