OTD 2008: Paul Scholes sent Man Utd to the UCL final with this goal

Manchester United fans are probably tired of being reminded of how far they have fallen as a football club, but sometimes the memories of the glory days are simply too good.

This Paul Scholes thunderbolt exactly 17 years ago is one such memory.

Facing 2006 champions Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals, United came back for the second-leg at Old Trafford with the score at 0-0, Cristiano Ronaldo having missed a penalty.

With little room for error in the days of away goals, nothing but a win would do, and Scholes provided it with the only goal of the game after just 14 minutes.

And what a goal it was, entirely fitting to win a game of such magnitude.
