Thought this might be fun to banter about.

I've often wondered if there is any correlation between names and success in football and other sports. To me, with football, it always seems that the more complicated or easy a name sounds, has an impact with how successful they are in the NFL. Guys with names like Johnson, Smith, Peterson and Wilson seem to always excel, but when you throw in some funky names, especially at QB, they are destined for failure.

I know it sounds implausible, but what do you all think?

Montana not sure what bucket you put that name in.
Brady
Manning
Young
Unitas
Griese
Moon
Elway

Butkis
Green
Greene
Matthews
Taylor

So the next step is to see what % of less "complicated" names there are and what % of them are HOFers and then do the same for "complicated" names.

I do think you are on to something here.

Jake Butt of Michigan has an all-time great football name. Especially for a TE.

The last couple of quarterbacks which could find success with the Cardinals has to have a 'er' in their last name. I give you Plummer, Warner and Palmer... in other words, Kizer and Leidner are our only legit options in the draft :)
