Called the commish a liar, repeatedly. I think a lot of people feel he's lying his ass off (myself included) and he gets suspended 3 weeks for say it. SAS got a 3 day (I think) suspension for saying the crazy crap he did on the air. Seems balanced.

Wouldn't call Simmons a peon. I bet this is somehow to appease for the OTL report against the Ravens.

That's one of the things that's so hypocritical about the deal. Simmons called Goddell a liar. ESPN's reporting from Friday called Goddell a liar. ESPN recognizes that no one reads/watches OTL; they just want to make sure that their loudest voices are all speaking the party line.

It's not always what you say, it's how you say it. He not only repeatedly called Goodell a liar, he also used profanity...He could have chosen his words better...gotten his point across...and not have been suspended.

Exactly. He even asked ESPN to retaliate against him which they did. I like Simmons, but don't know what he was thinking with this.

You have to hit with facts if you want to take swings at the NFL. Especially if you are part of an organization that is in business with them. There is an urban legend that ESPN cancelled their show Playmakers, because the NFL did not like how it portrayed professional football, and ESPN knew they were going to be bidding for Monday Night games.

I think it was Simmons that had something on his column or mailbag regarding Playmakers. More than a few of the concepts and plots on that show are now NFL story lines.
