it doesnt but you go for the score and the onside, not the field goal. You are 11 yards away and if you get the onside, the only TD chance is a hail mary. You can throw an outside post route and get out of bounds for a field goal.

but Adam Gase fits the profile for a "by the book" head coaching hire......
