The Miami Dolphins have fired offensive line coach Pat Flaherty and replaced him with Dave DeGuglielmo.

Flaherty was hired in February shortly after Brian Flores took over as head coach, but the Dolphins' offensive line has struggled throughout the spring and summer.

This move was football-based with nothing to do with an off-the-field incident, a source told ESPN.

Flores has made it clear that there are no "sacred cows" in the organization and players are competing for their jobs every day. It's apparent that refers to coaches, too, after the move to let go of Flaherty.

The fact that the move happened even before the preseason shows that the issues with how Flaherty was guiding the offensive line were significant. The interior of the offensive line, in particular, has been dominated by the defensive line through four days of training camp.

I'd love to find out what really went down in Miami.

How does an offensive line "struggle" before anyone actually suited up to play a real game?

What it sounds like is that the new HC took over the reins with "firing a coach to 'set an example'" part of his early plan to get his peoples' attention.

Who knows what happened. There's just something about this that seems "strange."

Brian Flores is a disaster waiting to happen.

It's like being notified that a tsunami is coming and we have viewing seats.

Obviously last year, OC and several assistants SHOULD have been fired in preseason by the Cards! I have never seen a more poorly prepared team, and I grew up watching the Chargers, and remember some of those early AZ Cards teams. Our team was horrible. So bad heads SHOULD have rolled in the preseason!

Michael Thomas is ending his holdout and reporting to the Saints with a record five-year extension that makes him the NFL’s new highest-paid WR, per league sources. He now is tied to New Orleans for the next six years, through the 2024 season.

Broncos’ undrafted free agent TE Austin Fort, who was challenging for a roster spot and playing time, tore his ACL last night in Seattle and is out for the season, per source. The worst part of the preseason.
