Yennier Cano traveled a bit of a winding journey to find himself again.

Right now, though, the Baltimore Orioles' closer has rediscovered his best self.

That showed in the most impressive possible way on Tuesday when Cano threw a nasty pitch that dropped a whopping 44 inches:

What the heck is a hitter supposed to do with that? Nothing. Pretty much impossible.

Cano has now pitched five times this season, a total of 3.0 innings and one run allowed. He has four strikeouts in that time.

He struggled last season. In 65 outings, Cano had a 5.12 ERA.

That was a disappointment after he had a 2.11 ERA in 2023 and a 3.15 ERA in 2024.

Sometimes, though, relievers lose their stuff for a bit.

Clearly, this season the stuff has come back for Cano. Good luck hitting pitches that do that.
